ABOUT THE ART Being the sentimental collector that I am, after a transformative experience in the wilderness, I would procure a lovely little rock from each place to serve as a memento. They now all reside in a little dish on our coffee table. Pouring over these simple, yet meaningful stones always brings me back to those happy memories. A tiny red rock from my first camping trip as an 11-year-old, a green rock from the cove in which I experienced true peaceful solitude, a striped rock from a wilderness trip in college where I met my best friend, and even a rock from the Pictured Rocks cliffs where my husband proposed to me. Each serves as a sort of "trail marker" for a significant time in my life. This was my inspiration behind these pendants.
Each necklace features unique cuts of high grade turquoise, mined in the US, handcrafted into "collection" like settings. I intentionally curated colorful, mismatching stones- no two are alike, just as those picked up here and there along the trail; mementos of moments spent outdoors. These are a nod to there star scattered skies of Patagonia
ABOUT THE STONES NEW LANDER: Technically speaking, New Lander stone almost always consists of chalcosiderite, not turquoise. But, like variscite, chalcosiderite is related to turquoise and occurs in deposits similar to turquoise so it is marketed along with turquoise. It occurs in both nuggets and large veins and seams and ranges in color from white to yellow to light brown and green. Virtually all New Lander is heavily matrixed with the matrix forming predominantly coarse lines. Some fine spider-webbed material is found which is generally considered to be more valuable than the typical coarsely webbed with white/yellow/brown/ green patches which is most commonly found.
A NOTE ON WEAR I have chosen high quality materials to create a piece of artful jewelry that will last a lifetime. Although crafted with the adventurous spirit in mind, please take care while wearing my pieces as natural stones can be delicate. To prolong the life of your piece, I suggest you remove it while swimming, hiking, rock climbing, cliff jumping, skydiving or whatever other crazy and rigorous adventure you find yourself on!
