ABOUT THE ART
Ever since I was a little girl, Ive been enamored with the American West.
In elementary school, I was Laura Ingalls for Halloween 3 years in a row, dressed in a prairie frock and matching bonnet hand sewn by my Mom.
In middle school, I wrote my first big history report on what life was like for women on the Wagon trains. The good, the bad and the ugly. I made cowboy Johnny cakes for the class and still remember the laughs when I divulged that they did indeed burn Buffalo patties for fire when wood was scarce.
In high school, I ate up every Willa Cather book, gawked at Georgia O’Keefe paintings and watched every western known to man. I remember a girl in class trying to make fun my vintage cowboy boots by calling me “a dirty ranch hand” and to this day I still consider that a high compliment. 😆
I mostly was inspired by the gumption and grit women of the west possessed- to be able to pack up everything in a wagon and endure months of the elements and hardships in search of a new better life. To me, they were the perfect marriage of beauty and badassery.
This feminine bolo is a nod to those women. Rugged yet delicate, with a killer natural 7 Dwarves turquoise stone straight from the heart of the west.
ABOUT THE STONE
SEVEN DWARVES TURQUOISE: The 7D Mine is a 20-acre active mining claim in Esmeralda, Nevada. Seven Dwarf was coined as such as it is a conglomerate of seven minerals: two Turquoises, Variscite, Chalcosiderite, Crandallite, and Gem Silica. The mine is depleted making procuring in its high grade form incredibly difficult. It is a very rare and highly collectible stone.
A NOTE ON WEAR I have chosen high quality materials to create a piece of artful jewelry that will last a lifetime. Although crafted with the adventurous spirit in mind, please take care while wearing my pieces as natural stones can be delicate. To prolong the life of your piece, I suggest you remove it while swimming, hiking, rock climbing, cliff jumping, skydiving or whatever other crazy and rigorous adventure you find yourself on!
