STORY BEHIND THE ART

I found this tiny cone on a trail run and was so enamored that I went on a wild goose chase to properly identify it. After diving into a VERY deep internet hole (which may or may not have included google searches such as “teeny tiny pinecone” and “little baby fir cone”) I was successful. Behold! An adolescent conelet of the Pinus Strobus known as the Eastern White Pine. All thanks to a vintage illustration from an obscure forestry database. And of course I couldn’t stop there- once I got an ID, I collected the various growth stages of the cones, from branchlet terminal bud, to yearling cone to ripe mature cone. Conelet. That’s the actual scientific term- could there be a more perfect name?! Clearly, I NEEDED to immortalize it and wear it forever. So, I cast it in sterling silver and simply strung it upon a delicate beaded chain. With such lovely natural intricacies, who needs anything else?

Tiny hemlock pine cones cast from the real thing- hand plucked in the White Mountains, and immortalized in sterling silver. No two are alike, just as in nature.  Each is pinned in a handcrafted hinge setting, ready to adorn your neck wherever you roam.

The Pinecone Charm Choker 🌲

Introducing the most magnificent necklace in the pinecone fleet: A beautiful hybrid between my charm chokers & Conelet necklaces. I wanted to create a piece that displayed my favorite foraged fir findings in New England; one that I could wear 24/7, would accompany me on every adventure & serve as a conversation starter (anything to nerd out over pine tree species together!)

Each choker features real Eastern White Pine & Red Pine Conelets (the young buds that mature into cones) cast in Sterling Silver and strung upon a rugged yet feminine chain, adjustable 15”-17.” The tiny pinecones were found & foraged atop mountains in Maine, New Hampshire & Massachusetts. (Rumford Whitecap in the Winter, North Kinsman in the Summer & Mt. Greylock in the Spring to be precise!) A true New England pinecone trifecta!
