I scored these incredibly vibrant & unique tourmaline slices on an excursion in Newry, Maine. Did you know that Maine produces some of the finest tourmaline in the world!? And that it just so happens to be mined just a hop, skip & a jump from our home!? Ahh!

These stones hail from Mount Mica, the site of the first discovery of tourmaline in Maine back in 1820. The mountain is known for producing gems with delicate apple green shades- a hue that isn’t found anywhere else in the world! 

Mt. Mica’s signature, is the confluence of black tourmaline (“schorl”) & vibrant green tourmaline (“verdilite.”) This combination of Maine tourmaline is highly valued for both its beauty & rarity, so I am BEYOND thrilled to have the opportunity to create with it- let alone FOUR high quality slices. And, each boasts flashy rainbow inclusions that dance throughout each stone!! I AM SO IN LOVE.

If you ever find yourself in Bethel, Maine, treat yourself to a tour of the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum. You’ll soak up tons of knowledge on the science & history behind all things jewels, & feast your eyes upon some of the finest specimens of tourmaline in the world!! It’s unreal!
