STORY BEHIND THE ART
A little over 5 years ago, I was released from the hospital after being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I was coming to terms with my illness & embarking upon a difficult journey, being put through trials of medicine combinations in order to find the right regimen for me. The side affects were incredibly difficult & most days I felt too sick to be able enjoy what I loved most- time outside. A few weeks in, Isaac whisked me away to Vermont at peak foliage, knowing I needed a taste of wilderness to get me through. When we arrived in the early evening, we intended just to hang at the campsite, but the mountain beckoned- I needed to get my feet on that summit. So we went for it. I pushed through the pain & climbed alongside Isaac, Minka leading the way.
š
When we reached the crest, we we were greeted with the most glorious sight- dusk settling on the valley below, casting vibrant shadows on all the changing leaves. It was magical. I was filled with hope for the first time in weeks. We sat in awe for quite some time & I wanted to capture that feeling forever. I clipped a few twigs from a nearby Alder tree & tucked them away to hang above my bench as a reminder of that momentous day.
š
Today, I feel incredibly grateful to have arrived at a happy and healthy place with my mental health. Iāve spent a lot of time reflecting on that journey, & decided it was finally time to immortalize those twigs- to capture that feeling of renewed vigor & hope in my work. They now they live on in these rings, to serve as reminders to you of your own tenacity and inner strength.
A NOTE ON WEAR
I have chosen high quality materials to create a piece of artful jewelry that will last a lifetime. Although crafted with the adventurous spirit in mind, please take care while wearing my pieces as natural stones can be delicate. To prolong the life of your piece, I suggest you remove it while swimming, hiking, rock climbing, cliff jumping, skydiving or whatever other crazy and rigorous adventure you find yourself on!
