This season of postpartum has been brutal. Experiencing both immense joy & hopelessness in synchrony has been confounding. While motherhood has been an arduous journey, it has been punctuated by moments of true vivacity & pure euphoria. I love our little girl deeply, & as painful as recovery has been, I wouldn’t change a thing. She is beyond worth it. I am honored to be hers.
Taylor Swift’s newest album dropped when Maeve was a week old. It happed to coincide with our 1st rough night: intense cluster feeding, zero sleep & breastfeeding struggles. In the thick of it, we listened to the songs one by one.
When “Opalite” came on, the upbeat tune brought levity. Then the lyrics resonated TO MY CORE:
But my Mama told me It's alright
You were dancing through the lightning strikes
Sleepless in the onyx night
But now the sky is OPALITE
Oh oh oh oh, oh my Lord
Never made no one like you before
You had to make your own sunshine

Dancing with our daughter to a song about perseverance through sleepless nights & choosing to create our own happiness was DAZZLING.
Opalite is a man-made stone. It is stunningly sparkly, & compositionally similar to its real counterpart. While the gems are alike, Opalite is remarkably striking, albeit “fake.” Shimmering & beautiful.
As both a metalsmith and new mother, this metaphor captivated me. Inspiration struck.
I crafted limited edition Opalite Celestial Studs to celebrate choosing to EMBRACE JOY in the midst of hardship. Because sometimes, in order to survive, you have to fake it ‘til you make it. When the darkness seems all encompassing, harness l all of your grit to manufacture your own happiness. You’ll make it through.

I have chosen high quality materials to create a piece of artful jewelry that will last a lifetime. Although crafted with the adventurous spirit in mind, please take care while wearing my pieces as natural stones can be delicate. To prolong the life of your piece, I suggest you remove it while swimming, hiking, rock climbing, cliff jumping, skydiving or whatever other crazy and rigorous adventure you find yourself on!
A NOTE ON PRICING
Silver prices have skyrocketed in the past few months for a myriad of reasons. Many jewelers, including myself, have to raise prices to account for the quadrupling of (quite literally) cost of materials. You will see this increase reflected in my listings. However, this means that silver jewelry is now more valuable than EVER. Choosing to invest in silver pieces is not only is an investment for the future, but also a meaningful way to create treasured family heirlooms. The longevity of craftsmanship, precious metals, prized gemstones & rich meaning will last a lifetime.
